Register and Language

The language used in products that are currently sold on the market for the genre of EDM are, in the main, informal in order to cater to their target audiences and furthermore, to possibly reflect the personalities of the artists whom they promote. I intend to follow this convention in my own products in a way that it would appeal to not only the target audience but to also appeal to potential organisations.

Target Audience

For my music magazine 'Equalizer' I will try to cater my product towards teenagers, I will do this by using a vibrant colour scheme and using less formal language that will appeal to the younger generation.

I asked a range of teenagers about what aspects make a good EDM magazine here are the results:

Varied colour scheme: 8
Informal language: 4
Recognizable artists: 6
Appealing layout: 2

I intend to represent my target audience using:

  • Language
  • Colour Scheme
  • Fonts

Preliminary Magazine

The aim of this was to create a preliminary school magazine cover that portrayed features of professional magazines yet still appealing to the target audience. This will help me when I come to create my official music magazine cover.
